Back to the Grindstone/Visitors/New Years/Brazen Careerist

I am sitting here looking out at the rain. The construction workers across the street have gone home and there is a sense of peace. The holidays are over and now come the days of measuring success by the teaspoonful. But they do add up and before you know it new things will be made manifest. That is the miracle of time: there is change.

M and O came from New York for the New Year holiday and we four hit the ground running. We went to the city, Marin and Sonoma. We visited maybe a dozen coffee places over six days, lots of restaurants, wineries and a bar or two. Lots of food and talking and more talking. It was great.
My resolution is to entertain once a month this year! I made three dinners in the course of 10 days for guests and it felt good. If nothing else it forces you to look at your home through a visitor's eyes and make a few needed adjustments to things--not to mention a good cleaning.

Have you read the Brazen Careerist? For some reason I am hooked on it. Gets you thinking about work, the way it really happens these days. Happy 2008!

Seems like you had a great holiday! Did they mention where there favorite place was that you took them to visit?
